CouponArrow Browser Extension — Privacy Policy

The extension collects no personal data. This page explains exactly what it does — and everything it deliberately doesn't.

Effective date: July 16, 2026. This policy covers the CouponArrow: Automated Discounts at Checkout browser extension only. The couponarrow.com website has its own Privacy Policy.

The short version

  • The extension collects no personal data — nothing about you, your browsing, or your purchases is gathered, transmitted, sold, or shared. There is nothing to sell or share.
  • There are no accounts and no sign-in.
  • There is no analytics or telemetry of any kind.
  • It runs only on partner-store websites listed inside the extension — never on the rest of the web.
  • Its only network request is downloading the public coupon list from couponarrow.com.

What the extension does not collect

The extension does not collect, transmit, or store on any server: browsing history, pages visited, search queries, cart or order details, payment information, names, email addresses, or any other personal or identifying information. It does not record whether a coupon applied or failed. No information about your activity ever leaves your browser.

What is stored on your device

The extension keeps a small amount of functional data in your browser’s own extension storage, on your device:

  • A cached copy of the public coupon list, so codes are available instantly and offline.
  • Your per-store on/off preference (if you disable the prompt for a store). If you have browser sync enabled, your browser vendor may sync this preference between your own devices — that syncing is performed by your browser, and we never see it.
  • A short-lived note of what already happened at the current checkout — for example, that you dismissed the prompt, or that a code was already applied — so you aren’t asked again every time the page reloads during that same visit. The browser keeps this note only for that store’s tab; it expires on its own within about 30 minutes and is gone when the tab closes.

All of this lives in your browser and is deleted when you remove the extension.

Network requests

The extension makes exactly one kind of network request: it downloads the public coupon list from https://www.couponarrow.com/extension/coupons.json when installed and roughly every 12 hours afterwards. This is the same file anyone can open in a browser. The request carries no cookies, no identifiers, and no information about you. Like any web request, our hosting and security infrastructure may transiently log standard technical data (such as IP address and browser type) for security purposes, as described in the website Privacy Policy. The extension sends nothing else — no beacons, no usage reports, no telemetry.

How it behaves on partner-store pages

On partner-store websites, the extension reads the page locally, inside your browser to find the coupon box and to read the store’s response after a code is applied. This analysis never leaves your device. It fills in or applies codes only after you choose Apply — until then it changes nothing on the page. Partner stores are separate businesses with their own privacy policies; the extension does not add any tracking to their sites.

Permissions, explained

  • storage — keeps the cached coupon list and your per-store preference in your browser.
  • alarms — schedules the ~12-hour refresh of the coupon list.
  • activeTab — lets the toolbar panel show the codes for the store in your current tab when you click the icon.
  • Access to couponarrow.com — allows downloading the public coupon list.
  • Access to listed partner-store sites — allows the extension to find the coupon box and apply codes there, and nowhere else.

Third parties

We do not share, sell, or transfer any user data to third parties — no such data exists. The extension contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking code.

Children

The extension is not directed at children under 13 and, as described above, collects no data from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If the extension’s behavior ever changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and its effective date before the change ships.
